The almost instant realization for need of this project came from my newly found love for being in the Troxler Lab at NCSU in the ECE Department. During my initial “walk-through”, I noticed a real demand for a web-facing inventory management system.
The current system was implemented with an excel spreadsheet. It was extremely error prone and had a steep learning curve with the workflow when tracking inventory. Loaning equipment to students was an arduous process that was not quick by any means and lacked real “tracking” of the equipment.
After some quick searching on the good old internet, I came across some open source that was fairly close to what we needed. The original project was created by Siamon Hasan which was last updated in 2017. Then another user, Cory J. Potter re-organized the project. Cory did a pretty decent job, but the work was far from finished when it came to the NCSU specific application needs.
This is currently a work in progress. I will update as progress and time allows.
